Carrie Walks 60 Miles for Breast Cancer!

I have taken on an incredible challenge. On October 22, I'll be walking 60 miles over the course of three days and camping out at night with thousands of other women and men taking this journey with me. It's for an event called the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure. Net proceeds from the Komen 3-Day for the Cure are invested in breast cancer research and community programs. Komen for the Cure^® works hard to build a future without breast cancer.

To that end, I've joined the team, Pink Diamonds in memory of my Aunt Janice who died of Breast Cancer in 1995. In addition, I have several friends who have been recently affected by this or another form of Cancer. And for them, I walk in their honor. Together, my team plans on raising at least $17,000 to help end breast cancer forever. Personally, I am going to raise $2,500 of that, so I need your help.

Why We Walk

One in eight women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer
in her lifetime.
With respect to age, race, religion and socioeconomic status,
breast cancer knows no boundaries.
The most significant risk factors are being female and getting older.
Early detection is key to increasing the chances of surviving breast cancer.
Making healthy lifestyle choices may reduce your risk of breast cancer.
There are more than 2.5 million breast cancer survivors alive
in the U.S. today—the largest group of all cancer survivors.
Breast cancer affects more than just the patient—co-survivors
(friends, family and co-workers) need support, too.
